Damon Herriman (Justified, Quarry) has been cast as the infamous cult leader Charles Manson in BOTH Mindhunter season 2 and Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Damon Herriman is an incredible actor and someone I became a huge fan of during the highly underrated and criminally cancelled Quarry TV series. When it was announced that he would portray Charles Manson on Tarantino’s upcoming feature ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, I was ecstatic. THEN – Collider announced that Herriman will also be playing Charles Manson in the upcoming second season of Mindhunter on Netflix. What?!?! It is VERY rare to see an actor play the same role in two completely different projects but it must mean that Herriman is just that damn good at portraying the recently deceased and batshit crazy Manson.
To make matters even more intriguing, Herriman will be playing a younger Manson in Tarantino’s movie (set in the 1960s) while he is set to portray an older Manson behind bars (in the 1980s) for the Mindhunter TV series. So not only will we get a double dose of Herrimanson, but we’ll get to see him in two very different stages of his life. There is still no release date for the second season of Mindhunter at this time, but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is slated for theatrical release on July 26, 2019. What a performance – I’m ecstatic to see what he can do as Manson in both of these projects.
