From CW Seed and producers Greg Berlanti (The Flash) and Marc Guggenheim (Arrow), comes the animated series Freedom Fighters: The Ray. Based on the character created by Grant Morrison and found in the pages of the DC Comic The Multiversity, the series will debut in 2017.

Announced today by The CW Seed, a new animated superhero series called Freedom Fighters: The Ray is headed to the network in 2017 and will feature the first gay superhero lead character in all of television. The character (created back in 1973 and featured in the pages of Justice League of America) will be inspired by Grant Morrison’s version in the pages of The Multiversity. After Ray Terrill was exposed to a genetic light bomb and granted meta-human capabilities, he turned into The Ray. His powers include flight and using light beams to battle opponents.
