From New Line Cinema comes the upcoming film adaptation of the acclaimed DC Vertigo Comics series 100 Bullets from writer Brian Azzarello and artist Eduardo Risso. Tom Hardy (Mad Max Fury Road) will produce and is in talks to star.
Chris Borrelli (The Vatican Tapes) has written the screenplay for the film adaptation which is said to hold true to the comic series. Previously 100 Bullets was set to be adapted for series on Showtime under the guise of David Goyer but that fell apart. Tom Hardy and Dean Baker will produce under their Hardy Son & Baker production company, while Geoff Johns and Adam Schlagman will oversee the film for DC.
This dark and intriguing Eisner Award-winning series features a mysterious agent named Graves who approaches ordinary citizens and gives them an opportunity to exact revenge on a person who has wronged them. Offering his clients an attaché case containing proof of the deed and a gun, he guarantees his “clients” full immunity for all of their actions, including murder.
Fans of the comic, which is ripe for a television adaptation, know that this is an incredibly complex action/crime/assassin drama that seemingly starts off as an anthology type series but the pieces begin to come together and reveal a profoundly detailed order of hit-men. Adapting it for film will be mighty difficult considering the fantastic ensemble and eclectic crew of characters — but Tom Hardy seems to be picking his comic adaptations carefully these days.
I just want to know who will play Lono?
This series was brilliant. Good luck Hardy.
