2016 Emmy Nominations Topped by Game of Thrones with Whopping 23 Nods

by | Jul 14, 2016

The 68th Annual Emmy Nominations have been announced! The Americans finally makes it’s debut on the show, Better Call Saul lands six nods, Rick and Morty DOESN’T get a nomination and more shocking revelations. The ceremonies will be broadcast live on ABC, Sunday September 18th, 2016 and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

Game of Thrones rightfully has the most nominations of any drama series this year with 23 – TWENTY THREE. The HBO series has dominated both the technical and major categories this year which also happens to be on the heels of it’s sixth and greatest season yet. Last year you may remember that Game of Thrones won the top honors with what could be considered one of it’s most mixed seasons (until those final three superb episodes mind you).

I’m stunned that Rick and Morty didn’t get an animated nod considering it’s easily the best cartoon on TV. I’ll let it go however, because maybe it’s a little too much for voters right now… But if that’s the case – why South Park? Do they just get a constant guarantee every year?
