THR has announced that J.K. Simmons will play Gotham police commissioner James Gordon in the upcoming live-action Justice League: Part One film. Simmons recently won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in the brilliant drama Whiplash and I will always fondly remember him for his amazing role on HBO’s OZ. His addition to this film is a perfect casting decision. No stranger to the superhero film world, Simmons also played J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy.
