Album of The Week: Amon Amarth – Jomsviking

by | Mar 25, 2016

Check out my album of the week right here (Amon Amarth – Jomsviking) with a direct link to a Spotify playlist so your lazy asses can click right off them phones and start playing it right then and there. It’s the future!

“Raise Your Horns!” Amon Amarth is back with their tenth studio album ‘Jomsviking’ and it just might be my favorite effort of theirs to date. From ‘First Kill’ all the way to the epic seven-plus minute ‘Back on Northern Shores’, Amon Amarth have crafted a warrior’s metal album for the ages. This one feels like it was created in a bladesmith’s forge. As that dude says on the TV show Forged in Fire, “It Will Kill”. And this album most certainly will.

This is also their first concept album that Amon Amarth have done, telling the story of mercenary Vikings (aka Jomsviking) and it does contain a few more melodic and traditional metal elements, but I think Amon Amarth have produced what very well could be their strongest record in years. The best band in Sweden have returned to slay us all whether we’re ready or not.
