Weezer are back with their 10th studio album. TEN! Frontman Rivers Cuomo has said that this is his ‘beach album’ and one of the craziest things is that he used Tinder to meet people and get ideas for songs. Not sex – ideas for songs. Sure why not. He’s a weird dude but I love him and this album is really fun – it reminds me of the ‘Blue Album’ in many ways. It has an upbeat vibe, which you could see was clearly influenced by The Beach Boys but still distinctly sounds like mid-nineties Weezer. I’m a sucker for the early days of Weezer.
‘Do You Wanna Get High’ is a great song and I’m really digging ‘Thank God For Girls’ as well. Catchy, fun, alternative rock that doesn’t sound tired but motivating instead: The White Album should be your choice this week and not that other piece of shit by Kanye.
