According to The Wrap, Aquaman will battle Black Manta in the upcoming solo film. It is not known if this will be the main villain in the solo feature or not, but it’s great news for fans of the character. Black Manta made his comics debut in 1967 in Aquaman #35, created by Bob Haney and Nick Cardy.

Black-Manta-Origin

In his 1993 origin, Black Manta was revealed to have been a prisoner aboard a seaship. He was sexually molested and all kinds of horrible stuff until one day he saw some dolphins, alongside Aquaman in the waters and signalled for help but was ignored… Needless to say he grew up to not appreciate the underwater hero after that day. He doesn’t have superhuman powers, but he’s a masterful hunter and uses tech to battle Aquaman.

Michael Chernus (Orange Is the New Black) has been cast as Phineas Mason, aka The Tinkerer in the upcoming new Spider-Man: Homecoming flick. It’s safe to assume that Chernus’ character will likely be involved in the creation of the Vulture’s supersuit… Pure speculation, but it wouldn’t be surprising if that’s the case considering Michael Keaton will be playing the main villain in the movie (check out the concept art officially released below during SDCC 2016.
