Blade Runner 2049 Announcement Teaser Trailer Brings Rick Deckard Face to Face with Officer K

by | Dec 19, 2016

From Warner Bros, director Denis Villeneuve (Arrival) and co-producer Ridley Scott comes the long awaited sequel: Bladerunner 2049. Starring Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Ana De Armas and Lennie James, the film hits theaters October 6, 2017.

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Two words. Roger. Deakins. Just a few of those wide shots of the desert-like landscape from the best cinematographer in the game in this teaser alone makes me excited to check this out. I’m not as huge a fan of the first film as I probably should be, but I love director Denis Villeneuve’s work and the fact that they have Ridley Scott and Harrison Ford back somehow makes a Blade Runner sequel feasible. Add this to the list of Star Wars competitors in 2017 right beside Valerian.
