From Warner Bros, writer Adam Kline and director Mark Osborne (Kung Fu Panda, The Little Prince) comes the big-screen adaptation of Jeff Smith’s classic comic series Bone. There is no release date or stars attached at this time, but there are tentative plans to turn the series into a trilogy of films.
After being run out of Boneville, the three Bone cousins – Fone Bone, Phoney Bone, and Smiley Bone – are separated and lost in a vast, uncharted desert. One by one, they find their way into a deep, forested valley filled with wonderful and terrifying creatures. Eventually, the cousins are reunited at a farmstead run by tough Gran’Ma Ben and her spirited granddaughter, Thorn. But little do the Bones know, there are dark forces conspiring against them and their adventures are only just beginning!
THR is reporting that director Mark Osborne, who just helmed the animated film The Little Prince on Netflix, is now attached to the Bone film adaptation. P.J. Hogan (Confessions of a Shopaholic) was previously attached to the project, but that appears to have fallen through.

To carry this into the cinematic realm presents both an opportunity to represent what readers of all ages have loved about the series, while pushing animated storytelling into exciting and different areas.” – said Osborne.
Last year I wrote about re-reading Jeff Smith’s masterpiece with my kids, since it has been released in full color via Scholastic. When the series first came out, it had been a black and white comic and it took Smith a long time to complete his epic story (1991 – 2004), which many have likened to a fine mix of Lord of The Rings meets Calvin and Hobbes.
