The iconic Christopher Lee passed away this past Sunday at the age of 93 after being admitted to London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, suffering from respiratory problems. Lee had heart failure as well and the delay in reporting the news was because his family had kept the announcement quiet.
Although the actor is perhaps most well known by recent fans for his legendary roles as Saruman in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy or Count Dooku in the Star Wars prequels, he has been acting since the 1940’s. He even had a great action scene in the final Hobbit film last year and is slated to have his final performance in the upcoming Angels in Notting Hill.
Christopher Lee was and is one of my favourite performers. I felt like the man was immortal and his passing even at the age of 93 still seems too soon when he had been doing his greatest work well into his 80’s. Hell — did you know he loved metal music and even released stuff like this?
RIP Christopher Lee — one of the greatest performers of all time.
