From 20th Century Fox and director David Leitch (John Wick), comes the Marvel comic sequel Deadpool 2. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, T.J. Miller, Jack Kesy, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapicic and Zazie Beetz, the film hits theaters June 1, 2018.
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
Let me tell you — the marketing for Deadpool 2 has been superb. The poster which features the cast having a delightful holiday dinner, the promo images featuring Deadpool decorating a Christmas tree and baking goodies… For the fans, they all know this is a silly misdirection and comedic foil to what will no doubt be a very violent and action packed film, but I’d love to see if any of it actually tricks some uneducated movie-goers into seeing the movie… Now that would be hilarious, slim chance, but amazing nonetheless. The teaser trailer, though mostly featuring Deadpool painting as Bob Ross, does include some chaotic actual footage from the film, including an unmasked Deadpool ramming a car Hulk style, to even popping up from a casket with guns drawn. It’s brief but it looks intense. Also – the new synopsis (above) is obviously fake, but again – funny as hell. Great job Fox for going all-in on the Good Housekeeping promos and embracing the ridiculous humour that Deadpool fans adore.
