Deadwood Movie Script Has Been Turned into HBO from Creator David Milch

by | Apr 19, 2017

Deadwood was an HBO original series created by David Milch that took place in iconic town of the same name and starred Ian McShane, Timothy Olyphant, Brad Dourif, Garret Dillahunt, Molly Parker, John Hawkes, Paula Malcomson, Dayton Callie and more. It ran for three seasons before being abruptly cancelled despite mass critical acclaim.

After executing his last act of justice as a Montana Marshall, Seth Bullock relocates to a gold-mining camp known as Deadwood, where he and partner Sol Star look to start a hardware business. Bullock soon crosses paths with another new arrival – legendary gunfighter Wild Bill Hickok – and clashes with the formidable boss of the Gem Saloon and occasional deal broker, Al Swearengen.

It’s been well over a year since HBO confirmed talks of a Deadwood film being in the works in order to wrap up SEVERAL loose ends after the series’ unfortunate cancellation despite garnering mass critical acclaim when it aired (and long after as well). Now we finally have some good news…

According to TV Line, actor Ian McShane has confirmed that David Milch (Deadwood creator) has recently turned in a script for a two-hour film into HBO head offices. “If they don’t deliver [a finished product], blame them.” said McShane.

Milch is currently involved in writing the upcoming recently announced third season of True Detective, so he’s been very busy conjuring up some greatness for HBO as of late. Here’s hoping the movie gets made and ties up all that craziness they left us hanging with at the end of season 3 – FOREVER AGO. Not to mention I came into Deadwood after it was already DEAD, so I can’t imagine how fans who watched it live are feeling these days.
