Montreal death metal unit [Evertrapped] are set to unleash their latest record October 16th. And yes they require the cool little symbols on either side of their name to hammer home the “trapped” in Evertrapped – that’s also how you up the metal ante when in your name — kinda like how dudes used to use an umlaut, but that shit got old.
All joking aside, [Evertrapped] are one ferocious badass death metal powerhouse. Vocalist James Brooks is a war machine on the microphone and his range of screams hits on either end of the guttural spectrum which can be indicative at times of Randy Blythe from Lamb of God all the way to Dani from Cradle of Filth. The chugging riffs from guitarists Frederick Dupuis and Vincent Benoit add layer upon layer of madness while drummer Eric Lemire and bassist John Yates try to hold everything together.
‘Under The Deep’ is HARD. It’s a brutal exercise in death metal that is every bit as technical as a classic Death album and equally as wild as The Black Dahlia Murder. ‘Palace of Injustice’ is one of the standouts on the record but the entire effort was assembled with what felt like elements of pure aggression and the urge to truly create something unique in the Canadian underground metal community. [Evertrapped] do not fuck around and ‘Under The Deep’ is their mission statement which can attest to that.
