This month’s featured rumble – The Pacific Rim Jaegers versus The Power Rangers Megazord. UPDATED: We have a winner!

Why?

Because they’re cool as f*** and although they may not be able to summon mystical magic powers and combine together to form ridiculous super robots (yet…) I like their style. If you want to get technical, the Jaegers from Pacific Rim 1 and 2 were piloted by trained soldiers. The dumbass teenagers in Power Rangers didn’t know what they were doing and that includes the big screen reboot where they made their Megazord grind that ass and do the booty scooty after fighting the worst Goldar ever.

You can argue that Pacific Rim Uprising did indeed have kids piloting the big bad robots too but they were still cadets in training and they have to sync their brains together in order to operate a Jaeger. That’s some intense dedication to piloting a robot – the kids in Power Rangers just had to worry about moving the left leg, or face, or whatever the hell they were doing in the Megazord. Now — when I say Megazord, I’m also going with the classic Megazord – not Super Ninja Dino Charge Space Alpha Rangers 12 or whatever godawful series they’re working on now, but the classic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Megazord (or the new rebooted movie version), comprised of five dinosaur robots, coming together to form – The Megazord.

On the other side — I’m counting all active hero Jaegers from Pacific Rim: Uprising. I think they win – the weaponry they use is violent, they don’t dance, they kick ass and stomp giant alien monsters to death. It’s serious business. I loved Pacific Rim: Uprising (more than the first too — take that mainstream) and although I enjoyed the bigscreen reboot of Power Rangers and grew up watching the original series — they just don’t cut it against the sleek and well-trained warriors who pilot Jaegers.

My vote goes to the Pacific Rim Jaegers and apparently the internet thought the same way – voting for the Jaegers with two rounds of 75% and 67% domination in online polls.
