From Netflix and director  Mike Flanagan (Hush, Oculus), comes the film adaptation of the 1992 Stephen King novel Gerald’s Game. Starring Carla Gugino, Bruce Greenwood, Henry Thomas, Carel Struycken, Chiara Aurelia and Kate Siegel, the film will debut on the streaming service September 29, 2017.

While trying to spice up their marriage in their remote lake house, Jessie must fight to survive when her husband dies unexpectedly, leaving her handcuffed to their bed frame.

I loved this book and I was always shocked that it hadn’t been adapted when thousands of other Stephen King novels/novellas had made their way into film/TV. I understand the difficulty of the premise though — a woman is handcuffed to a bed and is left there to face her own demons and struggle to survive while things like a starving dog start to get hungry eyes while noticing she ain’t goin anywhere soon… It’s a twisted but brilliant premise and one that pre-dates great films like Phonebooth, which featured a main character limited to one location for most of the runtime. Mike Flanagan has a solid track record with his horror films so I have high hopes he did justice to one of the most underrated Stephen King stories.
