Guardians of The Galaxy Cast Pens Letter to Disney Asking to Reinstate Director James Gunn after Idiotic Firing

Walt Disney Studios abruptly fired Guardians of The Galaxy director James Gunn 10 days ago over some decade-old offensive tweets and now the entire cast of Guardians 1 and 2 have signed a letter asking Disney to reconsider their hasty and idiotic decision.

In an era where anyone can troll social media to try and destroy people’s lives and careers, nobody is safe and that includes decent human beings like James Gunn. The director lost his job after some right-wing social media tools googled some of the filmmaker’s old tweets in which he made some pretty bad jokes about paedophilia. Yeah – they were bad but Gunn already apologised for those tweets YEARS ago and BEFORE he was hired by Disney to write and direct the Guardians of The Galaxy movie franchise. Gunn has been a vocal anti-Trumpster on Twitter the past year or two, so it was only a matter of time before the CyberNazis took five minutes to google the man and re-write some old news and act like they discovered life on Mars. It was a sad and weak attempt at pointing out “Look – this anti-Trump douche is a hypocrite and he’s done bad stuff before!” But what I found even sadder is Disney’s response to FIRE Gunn in light of the old news resurfacing… Yes – Disney, the company whose namesake and founder was a known anti-semite, decided to side with right-wing media trolls and can a vocal liberal. Shocking.

The Guardians of The Galaxy cast are not OK with this decision and today they have revealed a letter asking Disney to reinstate James Gunn as director for the upcoming Guardians of The Galaxy 3, which is supposed to begin production in the next year far as I’m aware.

Retweet that letter – share it with everyone you know and let’s let Disney know they made a terribly brash and snap judgement decision due to some of the laziest and politically charged hatchet jobbing I’ve ever seen online. Gunn is an incredible talent and I’ve been a fan of his since his amazing screenplay for the 2004 Dawn of The Dead remake. But talent aside, he seems like a genuinely great person and to see someone punished for old mistakes that have always been public and well-known (hey Disney – do you know how to google before you hire people or are you really going to listen to Cyber Nazis and let them make the calls for you?). I’m almost hesitant to watch any future Disney films if this is how they handle their business. It’s pathetic and thank you to the Guardians cast for letting their feelings be known on the matter.
