Happy Birthday Leonardo DiCaprio: Top 5 Career Performances

by | Nov 11, 2019

Today the iconic Leonardo DiCaprio turns 45 years old. Seems like just yesterday we were watching him freeze to death on the wooden door during Titanic. His career has been filled with great movie after great movie, and he seems to only be getting better with age. It seems only right to rank the top 5. performances of his career. Let’s take a look at them below.

5. The Aviator

The Aviator is honestly one of Leo’s most underrated roles. Sure, it got a lot of Oscar attention but when most people think of him, The Aviator usually doesn’t immediately pop in their heads. Leo is astonishing in this one and if you somehow haven’t seen it, change that.

4. Inception

While he didn’t get an Oscar Nomination for this one, Leo elevated Inception and it truly wouldn’t be the same movie without him. His character Cobb’s relationship with his late wife Mal is VITAL to the storyline and DiCaprio sells it to us so well.

3. The Wolf of Wall Street

The Wolf of Wall Street is a crazy movie and not many other actors in Hollywood could have pulled off the role of Jordan Belfort like Leo did. The Academy messed up by not giving him the Oscar for this one. Either way, his performance is one for the ages in this Scorsese classic.

2. The Revenant

More than a few people think that Leo won his first Oscar for his performance in The Revenant far too late in his career. Even if that’s true, he definitely deserved to win for his performance in this one. With very little dialogue, his facial expressions and actions carry the weight of the film. Combine that with the shooting conditions and eating of raw meat during a scene, there is no doubt that this Oscar win is very justified.

1.  The Departed

The Departed is arguably one of the greatest crime movies of all time. It is scattered with talent from a jaw-dropping cast, but DiCaprio’s performance is always the one that stands out. This easily should have been his first or second Oscar win. His character goes through SO much during the film and the transformation is astounding.
