The Jackass Complete Movie and TV Collection will be available on May 29th.  The 11-disc DVD set features Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, and Jason ‘Wee Man’ Acuña and includes all 7 movies and the entire TV series. Here is my review:

Review

The Jackass complete movie and TV collection is a wild and weird trip down memory lane. As I sat there in my livingroom binging through the .5 bonus movies and re-watching some of the classic TV bits I found myself laughing just as hard as I did all those years ago. Physical comedy is timeless and nobody did it better than the Jackass crew – not the Three Stooges, nobody – Jackass are the kings of physical comedy now and always. I don’t know if we’ll ever get a Jackass 4 now that Ryan Dunn is no longer with us and a lot of the guys have moved on with their lives, so this newly released collection is likely to be the absolute final definitive set. And that’s OK – because I loved it.

I could have used a Blu-ray option, but you’re only getting DVD’s, so deal with it Jackasses. It’s also just a slipcase that holds two boxes – one for all the movies and another for the three TV series volumes. You’re getting 16 hours of Jackassery though, and you don’t need a blu-ray high-def gloss to see a guy getting kicked in the face anyway. You’re going to laugh like a moron regardless of the quality and even though it’s DVD only – everything looked just fine anyway.

I found myself really captivated by the .5 films, because getting insight into how they would set up sketches and then they’d have the balls to show us the failed ones in the process, was really eye-opening. Even the camera-men would become recognisable to a degree, so they’d have to hide in boxes or film from vans to keep the gag alive. Even in his old-age make-up, Johnny Knoxville would get spotted and name-dropped by people in the middle of a bit. You’ll get to see all that stuff and more making for the full meal deal Jackass experience. The best part, is that even the skits that bomb are funny.

There are no major reunion or behind-the-scenes segments made special for this set, but you will get all the bits included on previous stand-alone releases so that’s nice, but if you own a bunch of these already, getting this new set is unnecessary. As a massive fan of the franchise with my roots firmly embedded in the CKY videos that came before Jackass, having this set is a must for my collection. I grew up with these guys and watching them wreck each other in the most hilarious and stupid fashion feels like revisiting home videos of another life I lived vicariously through these daredevils. Jackass The Complete Movie and TV Collection is a great piece of pop culture history and the defining purchase if you love physical comedy. There is nothing else that even comes close to it than right here.
