From the CW Network, writer/Archie Comics CCO Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schecter and Jon Goldwater comes Riverdale – a live action take on the famous Archie Comics series. It stars KJ Apa, Luke Perry, Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, Ashleigh Murray and Madelaine Petsch.

KJ Apa (Shortland Street) has landed the lead in Riverdale playing Archie Andrews. His version of the character is described as the following: “an intense, conflicted teen, a boyish high school sophomore who got pumped up over the summer working construction and is now juggling the interest of several girls, as well as trying to balance his passion for writing and performing music — against the wishes of his father and his football coach.”

Luke Perry (Beverly Hills 90210) has been cast perfectly as Archie’s father Fred who runs the family construction company. Ashleigh Murray has landed the role of Josie McCoy – from of course –  Josie and the Pussycats. Madelaine Petsch has also joined and will be playing Cheryl Blossom: “rich, entitled and never accountable. A manipulative mean girl who kills with kindness, she recently lost her twin brother in a mysterious accident.”

These additions will join previously announced castmates Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper and Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones.
