1986 Film Synopsis: Meek flower shop assistant Seymour (Rick Moranis) pines for co-worker Audrey (Ellen Greene). During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store. After Seymour feeds Audrey’s boyfriend, Orin (Steve Martin), to the plant after Orin’s accidental death, he must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant.

So Greg Berlanti – the man behind DC Comics’ major wave of TV domination, in that he’s an executive producer and creative force behind CW network shows like Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and the upcoming Riverdale – is returning to the big screen as a director. Berlanti has helmed features before including The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy and Life as We Know It back in 2010.

This upcoming big screen take on Little Shop of Horrors will actually be the THIRD because the original was a 1960 Roger Corman feature which had a memorable sequence with Jack Nicholson as the pain-seeking dental patient – later played by Bill Murray in the 1986 musical film written by Howard Ashman from his off-Broadway musical, with songs from the legendary Alan Menken.
