Luther series 5 will debut in 2019 from BBC, creator Neil Cross and stars Idris Elba, Ruth Wilson, Wunmi Mosaku, Dermot Crowley, Michael Smiley and Patrick Malahide. Check out the first trailer here:
Luther is a brilliant but emotionally impulsive detective who is tormented by the dark side of humanity while hunting down murderers. Once the self-destructive detective knows the killer’s identity, it becomes a psychological duel between predator and prey.
Series 5 Official synopsis: When the moonless shadows of London give birth to a new nightmare, DCI John Luther must once again confront the depths of human depravity.
As a series of monstrous killings becomes ever more audacious, Luther and new recruit D.S. Catherine Halliday are confounded by a tangle of leads and misdirection that seems designed to protect an unspeakable horror. But even as the case brings him closer than ever to the nature of true evil, a reluctant Luther must also face the ghosts of his own past. Striding back into the line of fire, he must choose who to protect… and who to sacrifice. Whatever his next move, it will have devastating consequences for those around him – and will change John Luther forever.
The upcoming four-part fifth series of BBC’s best show Luther looks AMAZING. Look – fans weren’t sure we’d ever see more episodes after the third series concluded, but we were treated to a brief but fun fourth series and now a fifth one that looks even better and features the glorious return of Luther’s favorite psychopath Alice. Yes she’s barely in the preview but she’s at least there and confirmed to return after a noticeable absence in series 4.
The trailer features a creepy and powerful version of the song Toxic (originally from Britney Spears) and shows a new masked serial killer doing some tremendously creepy shit, like crawling on the floor of a bus before killing his victim. Luther has always been one of my favourite TV series and this trailer has me pumped for another round of Idris Elba kicking all the ass.
