Marvel Confirms Entirely All-New All-Different Comic Universe this Fall with a Shocking New Hulk, Wolverine & More

by | Jun 5, 2015

After the conclusion to Marvel’s current Secret Wars crossover event, 55-60 new number 1 titles will launch in the Fall as various franchises will be reborn with new characters and plenty of switcheroos when it comes to who bears the title of heroes like The Hulk or Wolverine.

Narrative-wise the new comic series will take place approximately eight months after the earth shattering events of ‘Secret Wars’. “It could be that they live in a new place or that someone near and dear to them has died, or they’re even married or pregnant,” said Marvel editor-in-chief, Axel Alonso. He continued,

“Comics publishing is slowly evolving into more of a seasonal model. We’re allowed to hit a refresh button—not a reboot button, but a refresh button—which allows for the beginning of new stories, new creative teams, new directions, much the same way you see with your favorite binge-worthy cable-television show.”

Although, it appears that Iron Man has replaced the silver/white suit worn in Superior Iron Man, and is back to red and gold. Grouped with these three is also an aged Steve Rogers, donning the Super Soldier outfit. The picture stands true to the “All-New” heading as we have a mix of characters that currently do not have their own solo title book and characters that have only recently (within the last year) had #1 issues released.- Analysis by Scott Piekema.

We see four Spider-heroes, what appears to be Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man (Parker), Spider-Woman, and Ultimate Spider-Man (Morales). Others, like Coulson, Black Panther, Vision and Ant-Man, will likely all be adding comic awareness for ongoing and upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe entities. Finally, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) and Red Wolf are on the right of the image.  – Analysis by Scott Piekema.

There will be a new Hulk which will likely shock some fans, “The same people who went crazy with female Thor will have a field day with this one and a new Spider-Man. In some cases, a new character will be wearing familiar costumes, or will have moved, or will have significant shifts in their relationships to other characters. Many of those changes will be shockingly big,” said Alonso.

Here again we have the same Iron Man. Must be something very important that he centres both images. On his left and right we have Inhumans; Medusa, Inferno, and Karnak. On the right side of the image we have two Wolverines; what looks to be X-23 in classic blue & yellow X-Men costume and Old Man Logan. Between them is a confused Star Lord, but he isn’t the only Guardian of the Galaxy, because opposite to him is Rocket Raccoon and The Thing in matching uniforms. Others included in the image are Daredevil, Dr. Strange, Hyperion, Doctor Spectrum, and Citizen V.- Analysis by Scott Piekema.

Black Panther, the Vision and Red Wolf will get their own ongoing series with the chief writing team on top of this new initiative consisting of Brian Michael Bendis, Jason Aaron, G. Willow Wilson, Mark Waid, Dan Slott, Charles Soule and Jeff Lemire. “We’ve challenged everybody to come up with the right ‘Oh (expletive)’ reveal for their character to shake it up and make it interesting,” said Alonso.

An interesting sidenote is that former WWE star CM Punk will be penning an upcoming Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy series.

“There are tweaks and nips and tucks here but we’re not re-creating, say, the Marvel Universe as the Ultimate Universe. This is simple: This is Marvel and if you’ve loved it all these years, you’re going to continue to love it.” said  David Gabriel, Marvel’s senior vice president for sales and marketing.

Looks like DC was onto something when they did the exact same thing four years ago with their NEW 52 initiative…
