FX announced today that filming will commence March, 2017 for the Mayans MC pilot, which Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter will be directing. The upcoming series will be written by Kurt Sutter and his producing partner Elgin James.
The network confirmed that the show will take place AFTER the events from Sons of Anarchy and focus primarily on the Mayans motorcycle club, who were integral characters in that first series. It looks like the main character in Mayans MC will be EZ Reyes: a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border who struggles with his desire for vengeance against the cartel and his need for respect from the women he loves.
Emilio Rivera, who played Mayans club president Marcus Alvarez from the Oakland Chapter will likely be involved, but it’s unknown in what capacity.
