Monster Lab Card Game From Spartacus & The Flash Actor Liam McIntyre Hits Kickstarter

by | Feb 25, 2016

Conjured from the brain of a famous Hollywood actor guy – aka Liam McIntyre (The Flash, Spartacus) and brought to life by artist Cris Olansamuelle (Draw Them All) comes Monster Lab – which is now on Kickstarter so head there RIGHT NOW and help get this amazing card game to the masses because it sounds like a lot of fun.

Actor Liam McIntyre (Spartacus himself dammit) conjured up the idea for Monster Lab while attending a convention and as an avid gamer himself, he’s made it his goal to get this card game done and done right. Getting artist Cris Olansamuelle was a damn fine decision to help launch this glorious gaming experience.

For fans of Munchkin and Hearthstone alike – Monster Lab sounds like a blast that both adults and kids can play together. PS – There’s a NSFW add-on that you can acquire on the Kickstarter campaign. I was there when the idea was bandied about over Tweets and I have to say the idea sounds like a swell addition (too many games of Cards Against Humanity can do that to a person).

How-To-Play-3

Check out a rundown of how the card game is played below from the official site:

Monster Lab is a card game about channelling your inner Mad Scientist to create incredible, wild and crazy creatures out of Spare Parts, and use them to battle your way past rival Labs to victory. It’s part Munchkin, part Exploding Kittens and part Epic Spell Wars, but with a Madcap Monster Method all of its own. It’s perfect for 2-6 players, and each game lasts about an hour. To play, you draw cards to collect Spare Parts that you then fit together to make one of thousands of weird and wonderful Monster combinations that help you protect your Lab and battle your rivals. You can also draw Lab Cards that give you special bonuses like the Pig O’ Nine Tails, a Bat to the Face or a Shiny Monster Butt that help you and hurt your opponents.

You attack your Rivals to steal their Monsters and destroy their Defenses, while trying to protect your Lab to make sure you don’t get Run Out Of Town (and out of the game) by Monster hating Monster Hunters hiding in the deck or your opponents out for revenge. The game keeps heating up Monster Hunters keep returning to the deck, so the longer you play, the more they’ll appear and the more damage they’ll do.  – from Monsterlabcardgame.com
