Most Anticipated Games of 2017: Yooka-Laylee, Death Stranding & Mass Effect

by | Jan 10, 2017

Another year is over but with the end of 2016 comes the start of something better — more great games for us to play. While there will be so many incredible titles coming out this year, here are 10 amazing looking games you need to keep an eye out for over the next 12 months.

Yooka-Laylee

yookaApril 11 – PS4, XB1, Nintendo Switch, PC

Do you ever just wish you were sitting around playing the N64? That era had some of the best games and many of those titles were made by developer Rare. Well — some of the people working at Rare left to form their own studio, Playtonic Games. After an overwhelmingly positive Kickstarter campaign in 2015, the Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor is set to bring those N64 days to current generation consoles with with a truly incredible looking 3D platformer.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild

zeldaSummer 2017 – Nintendo Switch, Wii U

Its probably hard to find a gamer who doesn’t have at least one Zelda title that they hold close to their heart. Its been a little over 3 years since we’ve had a proper Zelda game but the wait will be justified once we get our hands on Breath of The Wild. Nintendo has given us enough  game play footage to know that this will be one of the best titles in the franchise.

Resident Evil 7: Bio-hazard

re7January 24 – PS4, XB1, PC

Capcom heard your pants are dry and wanted to change that. Taking a shift to first person and  scaling back the action for more of a horror feel, RE7 is taking the franchise in a much scarier and much cooler direction. If you haven’t played the demo you absolutely need to, its easily the scariest video game you might ever play. At least until the full game comes out..

Ghost Recon Wildlands

grwMarch 7 – PS4, XB1, PC

The upcoming release in the Tom Clancy franchise is shaping up to be the definitive co-op experience of 2017. Taking Ghost Recon into a truly massive open world map, grab your friends and take down a drug cartel whatever way you choose. Balls to the wall action, stealthy take-downs, long range sniping or even a mix of all of three, you and your friends are sure to have a great time.

Horizon Zero Dawn

hzdFebruary 28 – PlayStation 4

Guerrilla Games is taking us 1000 years into the future to a world where robots have taken over. What could be cooler than that? How about adding in a bad ass main character that uses parts from the robots shes taken down to hunt down more. This game is hugely anticipated and should absolutely be on your radar.

Red Dead Redemption 2

rdr2Fall 2017 – PS4, XB1, PC [Presumably]

This is a very recently announced game and not much information has been given other than an amazing trailer, but that hasn’t stopped it from becoming arguably the most anticipated game of 2017. If you haven’t played Rockstar’s 2010 western action adventure then you owe it to yourself to check it out so you too can hop aboard the hype train for RDR2.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole

spfbwSpring 2017 – PS4, XB1, PC

Just reading the name of this game is enough to make you laugh. Following up on the amazingly well done The Stick of Truth, you find yourself as the new kid in South Park but this time the kids are ditching the fantasy theme for super heroes.

Death Stranding

dsLate 2017 – PS4, XB1, PC [presumably]

Hideo Kojima is a gaming legend and after starting his own company, Kojima Productions we got a mind melting trailer for Death Stranding. Again little information has been given on this game but we do know that it looks phenomenal. The world Kojima has created is confusing and very enticing. On top of that, it features Norman Reedus presumably as the main character. Awesome.

Mass Effect Andromeda

meaMarch 21 – PS4, XB1, PC

The Mass Effect series has been a critically acclaimed franchise for the last decade and the latest looks to take that to a whole new level. The third-person shooter RPG is heading out to the far reaches of space in the Andromeda galaxy and looks to add in more of a space exploration aspect than in previous games. Andromeda is looking like its going to be what people wanted No Mans Sky to be, mixed with the already fantastic Mass Effect series.

Destiny 2

destinyLate 2017 – PS4, XB1

Destiny was wholly and completely amazing and while the latest expansion, Rise of Iron wasn’t all people hoped for, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be on the look out for the sequel to the absolute best FPS MMO.  Bungie have kept us in the dark on this so far but just knowing it’s coming is enough to get us excited.

Crackdown 3

crackLate 2017 -XB1, PC

The sandbox action shooter is back and looking better than ever. Using Microsoft Cloud, the game is able to harness even more computing power to make the wold 100% destructible. With the amazing game play we know and love, mixed with the stunning future city, Crackdown 3 is going to be one of the most fun ways to game with friends in 2017.
