From Lionsgate and director Dean Israelite (Project Almanac), comes Power Rangers. The new big screen reboot of the popular kids show was penned by Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller (X-Men: First Class) and stars Dacre Montgomery (Red Ranger), RJ Cyler (Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott (Pink Ranger), Ludi Lin (Black Ranger), Becky G (Yellow Ranger), Bryan Cranston, Bill Hader and Elizabeth Banks. Power Rangers hits theatres March 24, 2017.
A group of ordinary high school kids find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world.
The good news of the day for the upcoming Power Rangers flick is that Bill Hader will be voicing Alpha 5 (that little stupid robot thing from the original series). So that’s the positive news, now for the bad…
And it’s probably (god I hope so) just a really bad accident but the tweet caption for the new Yellow Ranger character poster featuring Becky G says the following: “Driver’s Ed not required.” So why is that bad? If you’re not a big Power Rangers nut then you probably are scratching your head… Here’s why it’s worse than you might think. The original Yellow Ranger was portrayed by actress Thuy Trang. She died in a car accident in 2001. So yeah. It’s pretty bad. Here’s a screenshot of the tweet below from the official account because I’m assuming someone will likely delete this and replace the caption.
Here are the rest of the new character posters:
