Best motion picture of the year nominees:

  • FORD V FERRARI
  • THE IRISHMAN Mark
  • JOJO RABBIT
  • JOKER Keven
  • LITTLE WOMEN
  • MARRIAGE STORY
  • 1917 Michael Sean Kevin
  • ONCE UPON A TIME…IN HOLLYWOOD
  • **WINNER** PARASITE Scott

“For months, I thought Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood had this in the bag. However, the momentum has swung completely in favor of 1917 in the past month. But hey, its biggest competition is still OUATIH, so we’ll see. Either way, if 1917 wins, I’ll be so happy. I thought it was the best movie of 2019.”  – Sean

“I had ranked The Irishman as my number one film of 2019, but it looks like Scorsese’s latest mafia masterpiece has taken the backseat to frontrunners like 1917 and Parasite. I’m gonna swing for the fences though and predict that JOKER wins the big one so that we can all give the middle finger to film twitter once and for all. I loved JOKER – it’s a work of genius and I would love to see a comic book film take home the big award for the first time ever.” – Keven (PS – 1917 or Parasite are the smart answers here but I don’t care).

Projected Winner: 1917

Performance by an actor in a leading role nominees:

  • Antonio Banderas in PAIN AND GLORY
  • Leonardo DiCaprio in ONCE UPON A TIME…IN HOLLYWOOD Mark
  • Adam Driver in MARRIAGE STORY
  • **WINNER** Joaquin Phoenix in JOKER Keven Michael Sean Scott Kevin
  • Jonathan Pryce in THE TWO POPES

“As sure of a winner as any nominee in the entire Oscar field and it’s not even close.” – Sean

“Joaquin Phoenix is probably the safest bet to win this award in the past 10 years of Oscar betting – he deserves it too which is nice. I do have to say that the dude is a complete douchebag though with his preachy acceptance speeches. Ricky Gervais said it right at the Golden Globes this year – Shut up, accept your award and get off the stage. So let us be prepared to hear another lecture from Mr. Phoenix as to how the Academy has to do better by nominating everyone for every award ever – and also the environment too because ENVIRONMENT – THANK YOU!” – Keven.

Projected Winner: Joaquin Phoenix

  • Tom Hanks in A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD Mark
  • Anthony Hopkins in THE TWO POPES
  • Al Pacino in THE IRISHMAN
  • Joe Pesci in THE IRISHMAN
  • **WINNER** Brad Pitt in ONCE UPON A TIME…IN HOLLYWOOD Keven Michael Sean Scott Kevin

once upon a time in hollywood brad

“Not the best Pitt performance of the year (that goes to Ad Astra), but it’s still a great performance worthy of the golden statue.” – Sean

“Whenever Tarantino makes another masterpiece, anticipate one of his actors scooping up an award for Best Supporting Actor. That’s just what happens and this is Brad Pitt’s year to win for being… Brad Pitt! If you’ve seen Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, then you know why Pitt deserves this award. Noone else can make a 10 minute scene of a dude feeding his dog so captivating like Pitt can. Also the way he drops acid and beats up Bruce Lee makes me smile. One of the best Tarantino cinematic performances ever.” – Keven.

Projected Winner: Brad Pitt

  • Cynthia Erivo in HARRIET
  • Scarlett Johansson in MARRIAGE STORY
  • Saoirse Ronan in LITTLE WOMEN Mark Scott

“I saw 1917 – it was intense to say the least and under the intense gaze of cinematography god Roger Deakins, not to mention it’s a war film (people love those) — the formula here is guaranteed to win Deakins his second Oscar and rightfully so. I didn’t love 1917 – but I did love watching 1917 if that makes any sense? It looks like the most realistic war film ever made and that’s why it will win.” – Keven.

“Parasite was so damn strange and fascinating for all the reasons I didn’t anticipate and that’s why it will win this category by a mile. I went in expecting something, didn’t get that, got about 10 doses of something else I wasn’t ready for and by the end I just sat in my seat dumbfounded. I even started a conversation with a complete stranger in the parking lot after seeing Parasite because neither of us could go home without talking about what the hell just happened in that theater. Parasite is awesome – don’t watch a preview, just go in blind and be prepared to not be prepared.” – Keven.
