Pokémon Go is a free-to-play location-based, augmented reality game developed by Niantic for iOS and Android devices. It was released in most regions of the world in July 2016.
Previously expected to launch in late July, the Pokemon Go Plus accessory will finally be available to buy from Nintendo this September and retails for $34.99 US. The Pokemon Go Plus is a wristband device that stays connected to your smartphone or device that is running the Pokemon Go app (via low energy to save power). The features of the Pokemon Go Plus includes LED blinking lights and vibration to alert you of nearby wild Pokemon that have spawned in your area. It also blinks and vibrates when you’re near a Pokestop etc.
When you’re close to a Pokemon you can press the button on the Pokemon Go Plus in order to launch a Pokeball. There’s a catch to this feature however, because you’ll only be able to actually catch wild Pokemon using the Pokemon Go Plus if you’ve already caught them before. Brand new Pokemon will need to be caught using the app – the accessory will however alert you of their presence the same way.
