From AMC and showrunner Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad) comes the TV adaptation of Garth Ennis’ iconic DC: Vertigo comic series Preacher. The pilot episode was written and directed by executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Starring Dominic Cooper, Joseph Gilgun, Ruth Negga, W. Earl Brown, Lucy Griffiths and Elizabeth Perkins, the series will debut May (pending), 2016.
Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen, Little Children) has been cast as the infamous villain Odin Quincannon on AMC’s upcoming TV adaptation of Preacher. His character has been officially described as “a small, decrepit man with the unscrupulous iron will necessary to be the most powerful man in Annville County, Texas. The chief employer in town, Odin runs Quincannon Meat & Power, a 125-year-old family run cattle slaughterhouse business.”
Oddly enough Haley’s character will appear in six of the 10 season one episodes even though in the comic series he didn’t appear until over halfway through it’s entire run. It’s hard to say at this time if Odin Quincannon is the primary villain for season one and if other villains who came before in the source material have been bumped entirely or if the writers are just shuffling storylines around. Fans like myself are curious if the TV show is willing to go all the way with Odin’s batshit crazy fetish – and if so, what will newbies think when it happens. It’s a doozy.
