The DCEU has had plenty of issues so far, but there have also been some bright spots. It definitely didn’t hit the ground running like the MCEU, but I think they’re slowly but surely getting it right. After seeing Justice League, I can officially rank the DCEU films so far.
5. Suicide Squad
To no one’s surprise, Suicide Squad is the worst entry in the DCEU so far. Almost nothing about the movie felt right and the editing was atrocious. The Joker had a glorified cameo and Enchantress was an extremely boring villain. Deadshot and Harley Quinn were the only bright spots in Suicide Squad.
4. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
I’m one of the few people who actually enjoyed BVS quite a bit. However, even I can’t overlook the massive plot holes, mediocre story structure, and messy editing. There were some awesome moments and entertaining fight scenes, but the marketing was so misleading. A 2 hour and 40 minute film called Batman v Superman with only 4 minutes of the two heroes fighting is an issue. Ben Affleck as Batman was badass, though. Also, never forget…. MARTHA!!!!!!
3. Man of Steel
Man of Steel kicked off the DCEU and even though it wasn’t a huge hit with critics, it definitely got people excited for the future of this superhero universe. The stylistic look of the film from Director Zack Snyder’s vision was pleasing, but it was completely spoiled by the trailers. Man of Steel is a solid origin story overall.
2. Justice League
Justice League is a lot better than expected. The first act is somewhat rocky and its rough around the edges, but overall it is entertaining and funny. I loved seeing all of my favorite superheroes team up and kick ass. The Flash steals the show.
1. Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman came out earlier this year and completely blew both critics and fans away. Gal Gadot is great as the Amazonian Princess and Director Patty Jenkins has a very poised vision. The character development with Wonder Woman is very pleasing and the action sequences are SO magnificent. The 3rd act is the only weakness in Wonder Woman, but overall it is great.
