Rat Queens to Return from Hiatus in March, 2017 with new Artist Owen Gieni

From Image Comics’ Shadowline, writer Kurtis Wiebe and artist Owen Gieni, comes the action fantasy comedy comic series Rat Queens! The beloved series returns March 1, 2017 after a hiatus due to several artist shake-ups. Roc Upchurch and Tess Fowler were previously attached to the series but left.

Who are the Rat Queens? A pack of booze-guzzling, death-dealing battle maidens-for-hire, and they’re in the business of killing all god’s creatures for profit. It’s also a darkly comedic sass-and-sorcery series starring Hannah the Rockabilly Elven Mage, Violet the Hipster Dwarven Fighter, Dee the Atheist Human Cleric and Betty the Hippy Smidgen Thief. This modern spin on an old school genre is a violent monster-killing epic that is like Buffy meets Tank Girl in a Lord of the Rings world on crack!

Thanks to Newsarama for breaking the much-needed news that Rat Queens will be returning after a lengthy and unfortunate hiatus. March 1, 2017 – Rat Queens will be back with a new number one issue? Not sure what that entails, considering there were SEVERAL storylines left hanging after a disastrous shake-up to the team but creator Kurtis Wiebe can be trusted and I have faith in his decisions. Check out Wiebe’s tweets below celebrating the announcement.
