After a hard year battling pneumonia and other various illnesses, Marvel comics co-creator Stan Lee has passed away today at the age of 95, leaving behind a legacy that will live on forever after creating the most iconic superheros of all time.

Just over one year after his wife of 69 years, Joan, passed away in 2017, Stan Lee was rushed to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center today on November 12, 2018 where he passed away. His daughter J.C. broke the terrible news telling TMZ, “My father loved all of his fans. He was the greatest, most decent man.” The king of cameos, Lee was loved by millions of fans, who made one his most recent film cameo in a DC MOVIE of all places, where he nailed his funniest appearance yet in Teen Titans GO to The Movies.

I only met Stan Lee once at the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo and it was the hastiest and most impersonal experience with a celebrity I can recall, but I don’t blame Stan the Man for that at all – that would be the MASSIVE lines and hordes of fans chomping at the bit to get his autograph killing my one on one time with the legend, so even though I could only muster a “Hi” and “Thank you” as he autographed my Web of Spider-Man #1, it was still a surreal experience and that comic sits framed above the very computer I’m writing this devastating article on.

This past summer, it was reported at Bleeding Cool, that Stan Lee was unable to sign comics anymore in public, asking handlers how to spell his name and even just drawing circles on fans’ books. Battling various illnesses and you know – being 95, it was hard to watch the icon deteriorate right in front of fans at the Silicon Valley Comic Con. It was shortly announced after this appearance that Lee would no longer sign in public, putting an end to his comic convention appearances once and for all.

Stan Lee was the godfather of comics – now and always. There will NEVER be another more renowned name in the industry for as long as comic books exist. This is a bad day for everyone – so let’s all take a look at some of social media sadness that has engulfed the Tweets as we remember Stan Lee – the man who created The Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Black Panther, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, Iron Man and The Avengers…
