#SDCC2015 Day 2 Recap: New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Footage & The Walking Dead Doubles Down for Trailer Victory

Day 2 of the 2015 San Diego Comic Con has come to a close. Check out my picks for the best and worst announcement – Plus all the other highlights that stood out on the second day of SDCC2015.

The Best Announcement of The Day:

The Walking Dead Season 6 & Fear The Walking Dead Trailers are Unleashed Upon The Masses

For the past 6 years or so, the Walking Dead season trailer reveals have been my personal favorite moments of San Diego Comic Con. AMC has yet to disappoint the fans and this year is not only no different – it’s doubled in awesome with the addition of Fear The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead Season 6 debuts October 11th with a special 90 minute premiere episode and Fear The Walking Dead is set to debut August 23rd.

The Worst Announcement of The Day:

The Lack of Any Game of Thrones News Regarding New Cast Additions

HBO’s Game of Thrones comic-con panel, typically in the past has been the place where they’ve revealed a video introducing upcoming new characters and who is portraying them next season. There was no such reveal this year and for that – I say for shame HBO…. FOR SHAME!

The Rest of My Favourite Highlights:

New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Footage Revealed in Behind-The-Scenes Comic-Con Video

Seeing the original trio of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill take the stage together was very special. Having them all back on board for Episode VII still doesn’t seem real even though we’ve now seen two teasers and this brand new behind-the-scenes footage that shows never before seen tidbits from the film that will no doubt take the number one all time box office spot over Jurassic World this year when it hits theaters December 18th.

As an added bonus – Simon Pegg appears to be playing an alien in the movie too, officially making him the coolest of all nerdy actors.

Upcoming Fantasy TV Series The Shannara Chronicles Reveals Incredible Trailer Based on The Terry Brooks Novels

I didn’t know this existed until just now and it looks awesome. From Al Gough and Miles Millar comes The Shannara Chronicles TV series, an epic fantasy journey based on the Terry Brooks novels. We’ll get 10 episodes of this crazy looking show in January, 2016.

Manu Bennett and John Rhys-Davies have supporting roles in this thing — automatically ensuring it has street cred among fantasy geeks such as myself.

The New Ghostbusters Cast Unites in First Official Image From Upcoming Reboot

Bridesmaids director Paul Feig has been teasing us for a while now but he’s finally released the first full cast image of his new Ghostbuster crew featuring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.

I’m enjoying everything that I’ve seen so far from the new Ghostbusters: the suits, proton packs, the car, the cast paying homage to the original crew (check out Kate McKinnon – she’s amazing). Feig has done a tremendous job keeping the fans satisfied and this pic is the best of the bunch so far.

We aren’t even finished the third season of the best animated version in TMNT history, but season 5 is a go! Seasons 4 and 5 will have 20 episodes each and the list of guest actors and which characters they’ll be portraying was revealed during the SDCC panel.
