After years of trying to get the Boondock Saints developed as a television series it looks like IM Global Television has acquired the rights with creator Troy Duffy signed on to pen the episodes and direct the pilot.
“For years I’ve been obsessed with telling a real origin story with Boondock, and IM Global TV has stepped up. Television is the perfect medium to explore these controversial characters on a much deeper level and to bring Boondock Saints to a whole new audience.” – Troy Duffy.
The third film in Duffy’s trilogy entitled Boondock Saints 3: Legion was set to include flashbacks of the brothers’ first crime and early days before the events of both movies, but that looks to be something that the TV series will likely rework into it’s storyline.
Original stars Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery won’t star in the series but they may serve as producers alongside Duffy himself, Don Carmody, Lloyd Segan, and D. Matt Geller (each of whom were involved in the first two films). A network and showrunner haven’t been selected at this time but it looks like they’re aiming for a straight-to-series order for The Boondock Saints.
