The Forgotten Artist Trailer Explores Tragic Impact of COVID-19 on Live Events Industry

by | Feb 12, 2021

The Forgotten Artist is an upcoming documentary from director Michael Welsh, cinematographer Grant Townsend Moore and is slated for release in 2021. The film explores how the film, TV, touring and live events industry suffered major setbacks in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown.

Michael Welsh came up with the idea for The Forgotten Artist in July of last year when he was suddenly forced to halt all work as a camera operator: filming football games, live concerts and more in the Tennessee area.

“Our goal is to inform viewers about how the industry works in general and how most people are freelancers that rely on companies to hire them in order to make money. We’re also demonstrating how people in these industries love what they do, so this has been hard not only because of the income loss, but also because our creativity was stolen from us and we had no say in it. It isn’t just a “job”… Its what we love to do.” – Welsh

Although there is no confirmed release date yet, Welsh is targeting April or May 2021 to have it on streaming platforms. In the meantime, check out Welsh’s short film THE MILLENNIAL CONDITION now on Amazon Prime: https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/0I1GWRMTO85AOOB4615KJZW3SD/ref=share_ios_movie
