The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Reboot Coming With Help from The Blacklist Producer

by | May 27, 2015

Another big screen adaptation of Alan Moore’s acclaimed comic series The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is in development at Fox under the watch of producer John Davis (The Blacklist).

In an alternate Victorian Age world, a group of famous contemporary fantasy, science fiction and adventure characters team up on a secret mission. Core members include: Allan Quatermain (King Solomon’s Mines), Captain Nemo (Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea), the Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Mina Harker of Dracula fame.

The series was previously adapted into a feature film in 2003 which wound up sending Sean Connery into retirement after it was considered a critical flop. A TV adaptation was in the works in 2013 with  Green Lantern producer Michael Green set as the showrunner but that inevitably didn’t pan out. Even though most had issues with the original 2003 film, I tend to appreciate it for what it was and never understood most of the hate until I picked up the graphic novels long after the fact and realized they weren’t given the proper adaptation that they deserved.
