The Predator hits theaters September 14, 2018 via 20th Century Fox from director Shane Black (The Nice Guys) and stars Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Keegan-Michael Key, Jacob Tremblay, Thomas Jane, Alfie Allen and Yvonne Strahovski.

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home. The universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

Shane Black and Fred Dekker wrote the upcoming ‘The Predator‘ flick which is due for release this Fall. Those two guys made one of my all-time favourite horror films of the 80’s with Monster Squad and if you too love that classic, then you’ll probably really dig the opening moments of this trailer which feature young Jacob Tremblay playing with what looks like Predator weaponry in his room. Then something odd happens and we switch genres halfway through the teaser to see some of the adults joking around while one Predator lands on Earth and kills some people.

I’m a massive fan of both the Predator and Alien franchises, so I’ve been looking forward to this latest entry which Black and Dekker have confirmed will follow events of the first two Predator movies but ignores the later entries, including the criminally underrated and badass Predators. It’s hard to get a vibe from this first trailer, but I’ve read that the movie will have some great bits of comedy and chemistry between the cast, so maybe that will help the movie stand apart from the previous entries. It’s hard to get excited with this brief and uneven trailer, but maybe that’s by design because they don’t want to spoil the sucker. Also — I wouldn’t have said from the director of Iron Man 3 in this thing, but I guess…. You know – Marvel is king, so whatever.
