From Fox Searchlight Pictures and director Guillermo del Toro (Crimson Peak) comes the monstrous love story The Shape of Water. Starring Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Michael Stuhlbarg, Octavia Spencer and Doug Jones, the film hits theaters December 8, 2017.
In 1963, in a hidden, high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa is trapped in a life of silence and isolation. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda discover a secret classified experiment.
The Shape of Water just won The Venice Film Festival’s top prize (The Golden Lion) and looks more and more spectacular with every bit of new footage. This red-band trailer isn’t drenched in gore or loaded with curse words, though it definitely teases some darker moments and that would be due to the Michael Shannon effect. He is off the rails crazy here and I love it. Star Wars usually owns December, but you can add this one right next to it as one my most anticipated films of awards season.
