by | Sep 27, 2016

From FX and the minds of Guillermo Del Toro and Carlton Cuse comes the second season in this vampire apocalypse saga ‘The Strain’, which stars Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Mia Maestro, Richard Sammel, Rupert Penry-Jones, Miguel Gomez, Ruta Gedmintas, Natalie Madison Brown, Ben Hyland, Jonathan Hyde and Kevin Durand. Season three is currently airing and a fourth and final season will debut summer 2017.

Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the CDC’s New York-based Canary Project, is called upon to investigate when an airplane lands with everybody on board dead. What his team discovers is a viral outbreak that has similarities to an ancient strain of vampirism. As the virus begins to spread, Goodweather works with his team and a group of the city’s residents to wage a war that could hold humanity’s fate in its hand.

Deadline revealed today that The Strain has been renewed for a fourth and FINAL season to air in 2017. If that pains you, know that the original plan for the series was for it to run around three seasons total in order to cover the trilogy of novels that Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan had created together.

“Our original plan was for the series to last three years. Once we began telling that story it expanded to be more. After finishing the writing on Season 3, Guillermo, Chuck and I looked at our remaining story and felt the best version could be told in one more season. We have a fantastic plan for an exciting and climactic Season 4. We are deeply grateful to FX for supporting our vision and for allowing us to end the show on our own timetable.” said showrunner Carlton Cuse.
