Slayer… I’ve always loved these guys. They were about the most “Satanic” or “Evil” metal band that I had in my CD collection as a teenager, back when I used to think Korn or Pantera was the heaviest music of that area in the mid-90’s. I grew to appreciate Slayer’s music much more as I got older and I’ve seen them live twice. Oddly enough – I saw them in concert with a 10-year gap between shows and I think the setlist was almost identical. They barely play any of their new shit, as wicked as it is. So I don’t know if I’ll check out their final tour or not, because I know which songs they’ll definitely be playing… However, Slayer, hate them or not, are one of the Big Four thrash metal legends and they made their mark in hard music history so it’s a sad day to see them hang it up.
There will always be that one guy at every concert screaming Slayer! though — doesn’t matter what show it is, there’s always that one guy screaming “Slayer!” and I appreciate that. I don’t want that to stop – keep the legacy alive and the next show you’re at — yell “SLAYER!” as loud as you can. It’s the right thing to do.
