The Walking Dead is an AMC television adaptation from showrunner Scott Gimple pulled from the pages of the hit Image comic series by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard. The series stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs and Melissa McBride. It’s currently airing it’s sixth season.
Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman, this gritty drama portrays life in the weeks and months following a zombie apocalypse. Led by police officer Rick Grimes, his family and a group of other survivors find themselves constantly on the move in search of a safe and secure home. But the pressure each day to stay alive sends many in the group to the deepest depths of human cruelty, and Rick discovers that the overwhelming fear of the survivors can be more deadly than the zombies walking among them.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen) has been tapped to play the iconic and infamous new big bad villain Negan in The Walking Dead. After it looked like Garret Dillahunt was close to landing the part (and that would have been amazing too by the way), it looks like Timothy Olyphant and Matt Dillon were also in the running before Morgan snagged the role. Negan will reportedly show up in the sixth season finale before being promoted to series regular in season seven.
Fans know that Negan is notorious (aside from his main character murder intro in issue 100) for dropping F-Bombs left and right in the source material which will make Gimple’s job tricky in adapting such a foul-mouthed character for the smallscreen. “There’s a particular story in that arc that I’m very excited for. But because we know where we’re going, we have some opportunities to play around with it and put some things in that will lead up to [Negan and Alexandria] in different ways yet fulfill the story Robert told to the Nth degree by utilizing some slightly different approaches. Lineups and timelines and the whole nine yards.” said Gimple.
