The Walking Dead is an AMC television adaptation from showrunner Scott Gimple pulled from the pages of the hit Image comic series by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard. The series stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Steven Yeun, Khary Paton, Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chandler Riggs and Melissa McBride. Season seven is set for October 23, 2016.
Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman, this gritty drama portrays life in the weeks and months following a zombie apocalypse. Led by police officer Rick Grimes, his family and a group of other survivors find themselves constantly on the move in search of a safe and secure home. But the pressure each day to stay alive sends many in the group to the deepest depths of human cruelty, and Rick discovers that the overwhelming fear of the survivors can be more deadly than the zombies walking among them.

The Walking Dead (and subsequently The Talking Dead) have been renewed for an eighth season to debut in late 2017. Apparently season 8 will premiere with the 100th episode of the series which is a cool milestone. Depending how season seven goes, it wouldn’t be surprising if the eighth season follows the ‘All Out War’ story arc either… But I won’t go into details on what that means today.
As for that anticipated season 7 premiere this coming Sunday, October 23rd. Everyone is talking about who Negan killed. Who took it like a champ? The teaser clip that was revealed at NYCC gives us one (or two, or maybe more) clues about who was on the receiving end of Negan’s wrath. Rick — didn’t get the bat — though he might wind up with one less hand in Negan’s camper. And I’m assuming Carl didn’t either, because if it were Carl, Rick would have tried to intervene but he’s just in a state of shock with a splash of blood on the right side of his face. People are thinking that there’s a wedding ring in the gore and that it belongs to Maggie… I’m not buying it.
The odds:
- Most Likely to die: Abraham, Glenn.
- Potentially dead: Maggie, Daryl.
- Safe: Rick, Carl, Michonne & everyone else.
Look – according to multiple sites, Michael Cudlitz and Steven Yeun have only filmed one episode so far this season. This is the problem with the age of the internet and ending your frigging season on a massive cliffhanger. We were bound to find out before the premiere who gets it…. I didn’t even look hard for it – the information just flowed towards me and I wasn’t actively searching for clues either. I’m not even mad to be honest, it’s just disappointing to me that they didn’t just include this moment in the season 6 finale to begin with and let us spend the summer depressed as opposed to angrily searching for answers.
In the comics, Negan kills Glenn (issue 100), with Lucille. So on the show, it appears that he’ll be killing Abraham first (who should have died via arrow to the eye in tribute to the comics a couple episodes earlier) but when Glenn (and Daryl from what I’ve heard) tries to intervene, Glenn also gets killed. I’m hearing rumblings of a potential gunshot being the cause of his death and not the big bad barbwire bat. Lucille was probably full anyway from taking chunks out of Abraham’s giant head. She is a vampire bat after all. What – was the joke that bad?
As traumatic as I’m sure the season 7 premiere will be, I would have gone with Daryl myself considering he’s one of the most beloved characters on the show… But I guess AMC doesn’t want to stop feeding the Norman Reedus gravy train. Abraham isn’t a stunning death – he’s just an afterthought and he would have been better off dead via arrow before this happened – but instead they gave it to the doctor that nobody gave a shit about. Wasted opportunity.
Two main characters dying in the opening episode is a helluva way to kick off your season, but in a show where we have way too many characters already, I’m not super shocked. Still – that’s how it’s likely to go down unless AMC has really outdone themselves and tricked us all with faked filming locations etc…. But do they really have the time to go to such lengths of trickery? They only have eight days to film an episode and I don’t see them wasting time or an actor’s time to simply mess with the internet.
