On Saturday, September 24, 2016, head out to the Lethbridge Public Library (5th Ave. S. and 8th St. S.) from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. It’s FREE – it’s fantastic and you can bring the whole family. There will be a kids corner, teens section and more for adults too so if you’re looking to meet an author, or just pick up a new book – this will be the place to do it.
Ryan North. Comic fans, if you’re in the area – go meet the writer of Marvel’s Unbeatable Squirrel Girl because he’ll be there promoting his new book Romeo and/or Juliet which is a choose-your-own-adventure novel. The book is jampacked with “romance, lots of epic fight scenes, and plenty of questionable decision-making by very emotional teens.” North has written Adventure Time comics for Boom! Studios, Dinosaur comics online and he’s currently on the critically acclaimed series Unbeatable Squirrel Girl which was recently in the news as being bandied about for a live-action adaptation since she’s a major fan favorite.
Also – even though hours are to be determined – North will be doing an in-store signing on Sunday September 25th at Kapow ltd. Comics, Cards & Games. So if North isn’t able to sign your copy of Squirrel Girl at the Library since he’s promoting his book there, you’ll get a chance to meet the man the following day and talk COMICS. Delicious tasty comics. Hours will be announced shortly – so stay tuned to Kapow for more info.
The Word on The Street Festival will showcase live music, there will be food vendors and most importantly of all – BOOKS. Lot’s of books for you to check out. Lethbridge’s own Eric Dyck will be there because he’s awesome. Check out his site HERE – Slaughterhouse Slough is an online cartoon series that is sweet, funny and utterly Lethbridge. Do yourself a favor and check him out – then go buy something of his if you see him in person. That would be swell.
