This is Us Actress Milana Vayntrub Cast as Squirrel Girl in Marvel’s New Warriors

by | Jul 10, 2017

From Marvel Entertainment,  Freeform, ABC Signature Studios and showrunner Kevin Biegel (Cougar Town), comes the TV series New Warriors! Starring Milana Vayntrub, Derek Theler, Jeremy Tardy, Calum Worthy, Matthew Moy and Kate Comer, the 10-episode half-hour series debuts season one in 2018!

Six young people with powers living and working together want to make a difference in the world, even if their powers are not quite as impressive as those of The Avengers. They will have to learn to use their abilities to help people while also struggling with growing up.

THR has reported that the cast for Marvel and Freeform’s New Warriors TV series has been unveiled!! I don’t know what the hell Freeform is — but I’m assuming a streaming service that will be a pain in the ass to find somewhere. Here’s hoping ABC just airs it too. We all wanted Anna Kendrick to play Squirrel Girl, but they went with Milana Vayntrub instead and I’m completely OK with that decision. She’s great on This is Us and I’m excited to see what she does with one of Marvel’s best superheroes. We get to see Night Thrasher too?!?! I’m really digging the sounds of this series but I’m worried that it might be a little jampacked with characters for a half-hour-per episode runtime…

“I am thrilled beyond belief to be working with this incredible group of actors. They are funny, sincere, eager, charming and perfectly embody these characters. It’ll be a blast and an honor to create this show with each of them, “ said showrunner Kevin Biegel.

“We’re so lucky to have assembled such a diverse and incredibly talented cast. We can’t wait for the fans to see what’s in store when we unleash these iconic characters into the world!” said Marvel head of TV Jeph Loeb.
