TOP 5 COMICS TO BUY – 03/23/16: BATMAN, BLOODSHOT & SNOWFALL

by | Mar 22, 2016

Wednesday is here, and new comics are within reach. So you may be like me and are still reading through the stack of comics from the last couple weeks, better make some room for these new titles I will be picking up at my local comic shop.

Like many I try to budget my purchases, which can become difficult with the vast amount of quality books being published currently. So here are 5 titles worth looking into this week, and a couple honorary mentions for those that finally sold those concert tickets for that day you double booked.

batman50Batman #50 – $5.99

Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Danny Miki, Yanick Paquette, FCO Plascencia, Nathan Fairbairn

This week is all about Batman. I am sure many people already have tickets for Batman v. Superman since it is hitting theatres this weekend, but it is also a big week for Batman comic readers. The week marks the 50th issue of DC comics main Batman title. As the main writer since the New 52 launch five years ago, Scott Snyder, along with artist Greg Capullo, have done an amazing job of creating a few new characters and reworking a few of the classics. This final issue will be a nod to their series, and conclude an era that will be remembered as an important part of Batman’s history.

bloodshotA1Bloodshot Reborn Annual #1 – $5.99

Jeff Lemire, Ray Fawkes, Michel Fiffe, Benjamin Marra, Paul Maybury, Kano, Ryan Bodenheim, Robert Wilson IV, Keron Grant

As the second oversized issue this week (see the above Batman #50), readers might feel a bit of a strain on the wallet, but take note that there is tons of pages to read, and a myriad of fantastic creators collected for this Annual issue. This story takes a break for the non-stop action that is happening in the current story arc of Analog Man, but instead takes reader to the remote Camp Silver Lake where Bloodshot is about to confront an infamous stalker.

hellcat4Patsy Walker, A.K.A. Hellcat #4 – $3.99

Kate Leth, Brittney Williams, Megan Wilson, Clayton Cowles

Private investigation appears to be the career of choice for almost forgotten Marvel characters, but if anyone is going to make it it’s going to Patsy Walker. Kate Leth has a way of balancing the fun and action all while making sure readers are able to relate to her characters through “real-life” issues. While Patsy POUNCES between jobs and employers, she also has to deal with the no-so-nice people of her past. If you aren’t convinced yet, this doesn’t even SCRATCH the surface, see for yourself and give this issue a try.

snowfall2Snowfall #2 – $3.99

Joe Harris, Martin Morazzo, Kelly Fitzpatrick, Michael David Thomas, Tom Muller

The White Wizard has returned. The Cooperative isn’t going to let America’s most infamous weather terrorist threaten the climate they administer, the peace they protect, and the profits they enjoy. When Inspector Davitika Johnstown Deal is unleashed, she’ll stop at nothing to bring him in!”

spire7The Spire #7 – $3.99

Simon Spurrier, Jeff Stokely, Andre May

Penultimate issue! The monumental Pax between the Spire and Zoarim is underway.”
