TOP 5 COMICS TO BUY – 04/26/17: NAMWOLF, X-O MANOWAR, & BATMAN/THE SHADOW

Wednesday is here again, which means a new week for new comics. If you are like me, you may still have a stack of comics that haven’t been read from last week, but how can anyone fault us for reading. Here is a list of books I will be picking up at my local comic shop.

Like many readers I try to budget my purchases, which can become difficult when there are so many quality books being published each week. So here are 5 titles to consider picking up this week.

Batman/The Shadow #1 – $3.99

Batman will go to the ends of the Earth to unravel the mystery of Cranston’s life, but the mysterious Shadow will do everything in his power to stop him from learning too much…
The superstar team of writers Scott Snyder and Steve Orlando and artist Riley Rossmo brings you a dark and twisty modern noir like nothing you’ve seen before, with a brand-new villain unlike any either hero has faced! This is the unmissable crime series of 2017, so get on board now!

Black Monday Murders #5 – $4.99

Image Comics – Jonathan Hickman, Tomm Coker, Michael Garland, Rus Wooton

“COMPANY MAN”
Thomas Dane goes looking for a man who doesn’t want to be found.

Namwolf #1 – $3.99

Albatross Funnybooks – Fabian Rangel, Logan Faerber, Brennan Wagner

When scrawny Marty Spencer is drafted into the Vietnam War, he finds himself smack dab in the middle of the heart of darkness. But Marty has a secret. A secret even from himself. And Vietnam is a hell of a place to find out you’re a werewolf.

There’s Nothing There #1 – $3.99

Black Mask Comics – Patrick Kindlon, Maria Llovet, Alexis Ziritt

Celebrity-socialite Reno Selleti doesn’t believe in very much beyond Instagram comments, hipster drugs, and the flash of paparazzi cameras, so when a friend invites her to an EYES WIDE SHUT-type party she goes along mostly for the lulz. But the joke doesn’t feel as funny when she realizes it’s an actual occult ritual, and suddenly she’s seeing things… Horrifying apparitions trying to warn her. “RUN.” Like Darren Aronofsky remaking DRAG ME TO HELL, There’s Nothing There is a stylish & hallucinatory thriller about losing yourself in the bright lights and finding yourself at rock bottom. By your new favorite artist Maria Llovet and Patrick Kindlon (We Can Never Go Home, S.H.I.E.L.D.: Quake).

X-O Manowar #2 – $3.99

Valiant Entertainment – Matt Kindt, Tomas Giorello, Diego Rodriguez, Lexis LaRosa

They asked for war. He’ll give them death.
Deep within the far reaches of space, the dogs of war have found Aric of Dacia. Conscripted into an alien army and forced into combat, Aric must enter an alien battlefield unlike any he’s faced before. His only hope for survival is also the source of his greatest rage – the living suit of armor known as X-O Manowar.
Can Aric still embrace the violence within? Get ready, because the most brutal fight in X-O Manowar’s life is about to begin!
