TOP 5 COMICS TO BUY – 10/07/15: JUGHEAD, PAPER GIRLS & DOCTOR STRANGE

by | Oct 6, 2015

I would be surprised if a comics reader couldn’t find a single new release to buy this week. This Wednesday has got to be one of the busiest days for comic shops, so be sure to be extra nice to them. With this many books coming out I had a difficult time narrowing it down to only 5 books.

Like many I try to budget my purchases, this week I will likely be going over my budget. Here are 5 titles that shouldn’t be overlooked this week, and a 5 honorary mentions for those that are willing to take out a second mortgage to supplement this weeks comic buys.

Don’t forget to tweet us your picks @FoxForce5News #ff5comics

Scott Snyder, James Tynion, Tony S. Daniel

I’m one of those comic readers that week after week purchased every one of the 52 issues of Batman Eternal. At times it’s a bit of a strain on the comic budget, but the overall quality of alternating writers and artists was great. The first issue of Batman & Robin Eternal is penned by the fantastic Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV, while future issues will be written by the likes of Tim Seeley, Ed Brisson, and Steve Orlando.

Paper Girls #1 – $2.99

Brian K. Vaughan, Cliff Chiang

Just in time for Halloween, Brian K. Vaughan begins a new coming of age series with artist Cliff Chiang about a group of 12-year-old girls. This adventurous tale revolves around these newspaper delivery girls after they stumble upon a mystery that could be a huge news story. You can’t go wrong pick up this book this week, despite it being a huge shipping week, at only $2.99 for 40+ pages, you shouldn’t be leaving your local shop without it.

Doctor Strange #1 – $4.99

Jason Aaron, Chris Bachalo

This week is the beginning of Marvel’s All-New All-Different relaunch, and of all the #1s hitting shelves today I’ll be picking up Doctor Strange. Nothing against the other creators on the other books but I have really been loving the work Jason Aaron has been putting out recently. This in combination with the dark plots and mysterious characters that are associated with Stephan Strange makes me super excited to get my hands on this book.

Jughead #1 – $3.99

Chip Zdarsky, Erica Henderson

This comic creative team is what dreams are made of. Two of my favorite Marvel comics are Howard the Duck and The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, so when you take the writer from one, Chip Zdarsky, and the artist from the other, Erica Henderson and put them together working on a book the result can only be awesomeness. But enough about the creators, the true star here is Jughead! The Archie reboot is a huge success in. My opinion, and I have no doubts Jughead will be too.

Bloodshot Reborn #7 – $3.99

Jeff Lemire, Butch Guice, Mico Suayan

Bloodshot’s hunt continues as he attempts to make things right by tracking down the old nanites which have infected and created imposters. He will have to track them down without getting caught for the crimes they have committed.
