Wednesday is here, and new comics are within reach. If you are like me, you may still have a stack of comics that haven’t been read from last week (or last month), but here is a list of new series starting this week, which I will be picking up at my local comic shop.
Like many readers I try to budget my purchases, which can become difficult with the vast amount of quality books being published currently. I have chosen to highlight five promising new titles to consider picking up this week.
Aftershock Comics – Marguerite Bennett, Rafael de Latorre, Rob Schwager, Marshall Dillon
Caught between the ruins of the human militia and the rise of the Animilitary, the Bloodhound Sandor and his human daughter Jesse encounter unlikely allies and cunning traitors, but are haunted by the horrors that brought them here…
DC Comics – Tom King, Mikel Janin, June Chung
“I am Suicide” part two! Batman now has his team, but are they ready for the most dangerous mission of their lives? As the Dark Knight prepares his squad to infiltrate Santa Prisca, he may find that it’s up to him alone to face Bane.
The Sheriff of Babylon #12 – $3.99
Vertigo Comics – Tom King, Mitch Gerads, Jean Paul Leon
Chris, Sofia and Nassir have pursued Abu Rahim, navigated complicated red tape, run afoul of some very bad men and so far have managed to make it to the other side. So far. It’s taken a year and 12 issues to get here, but this is everything we’ve been building toward.
Marvel Comics – Jason Aaron, Olivier Coipel, Matt Wilson
Odinson’s desperate search to regain his worthiness has taken him out into the cosmos, where he’s learned of the existence of a mysterious other Mjolnir. This weapon of unimaginable power, a relic from a dead universe, is the key to Odinson’s redemption – but some of the greatest villains of the Marvel Universe are now anxious to get their hands on it as well. Can The Odinson reclaim his honor, or will the power of thunder be wielded for evil? The quest for the hammer begins here.
The Wicked + The Divine #23 – $3.50
Image Comics – Keiron Gillan, Kevin Wada, Jamie McKelvie, Matt Wilson
