Wednesday is here, and new comics are within reach. If you are like me, you may still have a stack of comics that haven’t been read from last week (or last month), but here is a list of new series starting this week, which I will be picking up at my local comic shop.
Like many readers I try to budget my purchases, which can become difficult with the vast amount of quality books being published currently. I have chosen to highlight five promising new titles to consider picking up this week.
Image Comics – Scott Snyder, Jeff Lemire
The first of 3 books in this new series by superstar comic duo Scott Snyder and Jeff Lemire. A tale of mortality in a future where there is a cure for death. This book has been on my radar since it was originally announced, even after a few delays. Even though it has been divided from its originally conceived graphic novel, the now 3 volumed epic series is not to be missed.
Valiant Entertainment – Jeff Lemire, Doug Braithwaite, Brian Reber
There are more than eight million people in New York City. And every single one of them just became Bloodshot.
With the flip of a switch, Project Rising Spirit has just infected every man, woman, and child in New York City with a designer “nanite virus,” instantly transforming them into hard-coded killing machines.
Now, block by block, the citizens of America’s greatest metropolis are falling prey to their own destructive urges…and Bloodshot is the only soldier tough enough to go head-to-head with the entire Big Apple gone bad! With the humanity of an entire city on the line, Bloodshot is waging a one-man assault on Manhattan to root out the source of this machine-made infection before it hits the heartland… but will bullets and brute force be enough to stop the spread of a pandemic deadlier than anything in human history?
Image Comics – Jason Aaron, R.M. Guera, Giulia Brusco
The Goddamned finally makes its triumphant return after months of delays. This beautifully crafted story is well worth the wait.
DC Comics – Art Baltazar
Aw yeah, the World’s Greatest Heroes are back in a new, all-ages miniseries-except for Batman! Superman helps out by cleaning up in Gotham City, where he discovers a clue that sends Wonder Woman into space to find the Caped Crusader. Her journey brings her a step closer to Batman, but can she uncover the truth behind his disappearance? From the award-winning creative team that brought you TINY TITANS and SUPERMAN FAMILY ADVENTURES!
Marvel Comics – Mike Costa, Gerardo Sandoval, Dono Sanchez Almara
The symbiote you know and love has returned to New York City. No more “Agent of the Cosmos.” No more “Lethal Protector.” It’s time for a new Venom, and it’s great to be bad.
Extra Pulls: Dept.H #8, Detective Comics #945, Black Monday Murders #4, Lake of Fire #4, Wonder Woman #11
